Wednesday, week 2 (Sept. 2)

Today is day 3 of the second week (and my niece's birthday! She's 7!) and hopefully you're managing to tame the tech demons to get your assignments sorted. If not: give a shout! What's the digital equivalent for "the cat puked in the printer the night before my essay was due" (happened to a friend of mine)? It can't be pretty! I may redirect you to OIT or DL, but I can often help with minor issues.

Schedule for today

Drop-in tutorials

Drop in tutorial: 1-2 pm, open to all.

  • Option 1: reserve a spot on this Google appointment page
  • Option 2: "drop in" anytime, but you may have to wait a bit in the waiting room.

Both are a Zoom meeting, using the Green Link on your respective Canvas SECRETS pages (or find the info in your Canvas Calendar). I ask you make some noise if I'm not showing on screen; I am near but may not be glued to my computer.

HST137
  • In the course of the morning, the webpage with the Week 2 schedule will begin to display four student's posts at random in the assignment Discussion Comments <-- Click that link to find more info on what kind of feedback to give, and to find the blogs! Those comments are due by Thursday night.
  • Optional video conference chat/check in at 11.30am. Come and chat with your fellow students about the course materials or share questions and ideas after writing your initial post. "Pink Link" can be found on the SECRETS page on Canvas.
HST271 Keep on reading. Remember to ask questions if you're unsure about something. You are not alone!
HST439 Comments for the Social Annotation are due tonight, 11.59pm in the Hypothes.is group HST439.

Fun stuff

Librarians have a wicked sense of humor, if only you give them a chance to show it! Here's a Bored Panda collection. Which is your favorite one of these thirty is your favorite? I actually have a variation of nr. 3 pinned to my office door!

Thank goodness the Thesaurus survived!
