Thursday, week 2 (Sept. 3)

Today is the fourth day of the second week. (And somebody for the love of all things we can count please tell me if I mess it up again and put in the title of the post week 3, when we're only in week 2, like I did yesterday!)

I have received reports from a few students who are off campus and have issues accessing Bergbuilds sites. I had hoped that we would prevent this problem by being a small and unobtrusive domain name, but maybe it's so small it's now suspicious to your Internet Service Provider you're sending so much traffic that way. Email me if this is you (and you haven't done that yet). We will work around this until we can solve it.

Computers can be such dumb things... And yet they are wonderful and allow us to continue our lessons without the need to resort to stamps and mailed course packets, or postal pigeons. Drop-in tutorials

Drop in tutorial: 11am-12pm, open to all.

  • Option 1: reserve a spot on this Google appointment page
  • Option 2: "drop in" anytime, but you may have to wait a bit in the waiting room.

Both are for a Zoom meeting, using the Green Link on your respective Canvas SECRETS pages (or find the info in your Canvas Calendar).

HST137 Get your Discussion Comments in before 11.59pm tonight, and don't forget to collect your points by filling out the Declaration Quiz on Canvas. Everything you need to know is available on that link: how to comment (use!), and four blogs randomly loaded from our fine selection of student posts.
HST271 Get your Weekly Blog Post in by 11.59pm tonight, and collect your points by filling out the Declaration Quiz. Everything you need to know is at that link.
HST439 You can continue the annotations of the texts and discussion with your classmates, but begin to ponder about your Weekly Blog Post, which is due on Friday.

Additional information and fun stuff

Quick entry into your Bergbuilds dashboard

You may not realize there is an easy way to circumvent having to type your blog's username and password to create or edit a post:

  • from the Onelogin portal, go to the Bergbuilds dashboard.
  • in the block "Applications", click on "My apps"
  • find your website (maybe you've only got one?) and click on the second link
  • et voilà! you are now right into the dashboard of your website!
